The jury noted that the fact that the project is in the pre-existing building allows it to establish a dialogue between the existing building and the new constructions as the genesis of the project. The creation of a new, double-level space and the opening up of new windows and skylights improve the lighting and spatial conditions of the site. The jury was particularly impressed by the decision to clear out, cut back and insert as a means of preserving the essence of the original building.
