Arquitecto

“It seems that the whole purpose of architecture has always been one of colonization, of setting limits, order, and form. In this way, architecture and urban design, when they impose their desire on to an empty space, seem unable to do anything other than bring about radical changes, intending, at all costs, to undo the unspoiled charm of the obsolete in the name of utility.” Ignasi de Solà-Morales.

The thing that I like the most about architecture is its silence, not what it says, but the feelings it conveys. Its social dimension. Its honesty. Its ability to seduce. Its power to intensify the perception of things. To activate the surrounding space.

The architect as a surgeon, this is the profession in which I believe. The one who questions the need for their intervention. The one who builds with the void. The one who resolves urban problems through minimal interventions. The one who revitalises the city. The one who wakes up people’s imaginations. The one who starts the process. The one who provokes the experience.

We should learn from the moment of social and environmental emergency in which we find ourselves. It is time to rehabilitate the built city. To reuse it. To enhance public spaces. To encourage closeness and urban culture.

In the search for the essential, I am equally interested in materiality and immateriality. Outdoor and indoor spaces treated with the same intensity. Abstraction gives life to materials. I understand architecture as an evolutionary discipline. I seek its evocative use.
