"Reconstrucción en el Líbano" (reconstruction in Lebanon)

The definition of the subject, entrusted to the jurors, Emilio Tuñón and Luis Moreno Mansilla, was based on the photograph that appeared in the newspaper El Pais on August 3, 2006, showing the tragic effects of the offense that the Israeli army carried out in response to attacks by Hezbollah from southern Lebanon.

The work proposed to applicants for grants 2007, consisted of making a proposal for the reconstruction of the residential building in the foreground, as part of the Lebanon reconstruction campaign, funded by several countries, to be carried out in the coming years.

The only information given to applicants was what they could conclude from that picture and therefore required analytical work and previous interpretation, based on the information that could be extracted from the image.

The proposal had to seek to influence as many of the facets of the multi-faceted heart of architecture as possible, matters as varied as those ideological, symbolic, social, formal, functional, energy, material, economic, etc.
