Bauhaus
This thematic series features different audiovisual materials related to the Bauhaus as well as to its members, to commemorate the 100th anniversary (1919 - 2019) of this well-known and prestigious school of architecture, design, craftsmanship and art.
'The Bauhaus is probably the most famous school of art or design in modern times. Its products are identified as 'Bauhaus style' when they respond to a stylish, functional and modern design.
The professors who walked its classrooms have been internationally acclaimed: Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Lyonel Feiniger, Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe or Marcel Breuer. Its educational system with the 'preliminary course' and the practical training in workshops set up by Johannes Itten, László Moholy-Nagy or Josef Albers, has been adopted in many schools. Many of them, run by its former professors or students, such as the Black Mountain College NC with Josef Albers; the New Bauhaus of the School of Design in Chicago founded by Moholy-Nagy; or the Hochschule fúr Gestaltung in Ulm led by Max Bill, have also achieved great international renown".
