It is a documentary about what is perhaps most renowned school of art or design of modernity. Its "Bauhaus-style" products respond to a stylised, functional and modern style. The professors that trained there received international recognition: Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Lyonel Feininger, Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer. Its teaching system, with the “preliminary course” and the teaching applied in workshops, introduced by Johannes Itten, László Moholy-Nagy and Josef Albers, was adopted in many other schools.

Nevertheless, the Bauhaus history is one of misunderstandings and difficulties. Admired and defended by artists and intellectuals all over the world, it was strongly rejected and attacked by the political powers and by the residents of Weimar and Dessau, where it had its offices. Related to functional industrial design, its origins were intimately linked to expressionism and craft production according to the model of medieval guilds, to become increasingly involved in industrial production and finally, in architecture. Its three directors, Walter Gropius, Hannes Meyer and Mies van der Rohe, were involved up to a point in these historical moments.

Booklet of the edition by the architect Jorge Torres Cueco, Professor at the 'Polytechnic University of Valencia'. Author of the publication Le Corbusier: Views of Technique in Five Movements (Arquia Foundation, 2004).
