'Reconstruction at the limit'
'The photograph, which appeared in El País newspaper on 3 August 2006, shows the tragic effects of the offensive carried out by the Israeli army in response to the Hezbollah attacks from southern Lebanon. The work proposed for applicants of the 2007 Architects Credit Union Foundation Scholarships consists of a proposal for reconstructing the residential building that appears in the foreground of the photograph, as part of the campaign for the reconstruction of Lebanon which, financed by different countries, will be carried out over the next few years. The only information available to the applicants is what can be deduced from the photograph. Therefore, it will be necessary to do a prior analysis and interpretation of the data that can be extracted from the image. The proposal should try to influence the greatest number of sides of the polyhedral heart of architecture, that is to say, on, among others, ideological, symbolic, social, formal, functional, energy, material, economic matters'.
