The motto 'RELEVANT PRACTICES', promotes reflection on the paradox between recognition and success of Spanish architecture international repercussions, and the low volume of production in recent years.

V Edition 2014-2015

The curator of this edition is Alberto Veiga, and the members of the jury are: Eugeni Bach, Carlos Gómez Agustí, Jesús Irisarri, Eva Morales and Víctor Navarro. 2012-2013 IV Edition

In this fourth edition there have been 670 new registrations and 870 participating architects.

The jury includes Eva Franch, general curator Emilio Tuñón, Toni Gironès, Izaskun Chinchilla, Luis Úrculo and Andrés Jaque has catalogued 120 works and has selected 29 works that show

projects that architecturally build a vindication of the historical, critical, ecological and social through a management of capital and architectural, environmental and human surpluses.

In the 2012-2013 IV edition, the arquia/next award, consisting of €15,000 has been awarded to: Analogical Smart Cities Paradise Lost, Monu//Bench Project, From Olympic Games to Urban Games y Social Alphabets / Alphabet Cities of the PKMN group that, with a large dose of creativity, rigour and humour, both on a methodological and formal level, represents fundamental social and architectural values at the entrepreneurial level: the city's democratisation and the construction of social links and collective spaces capable of blurring economic, social or class differences. The PKMN project, always built from the outside, takes as a reference what for others is the "third person" of the architecture: the user.

2010-2011 III Edition

In this third edition there have been registered 2841 works and 991 architects

The jury consisting of Francisco Cabrera, Adriana Cantís (curator). Ricardo Devesa, José María Ezquiaga, Eva Franch, José Morales, Carlos Quintáns, Rogelio Ruiz and Martha Thorne has catalogued 120 works and selected 24 works that show new 'roles' of the young architects with whom they are developing their work, looking for new formats, either through commissions or self-commissioning, new group or collective collaboration formulas, social activism and citizen participation, action urbanism, new media applied to architecture, as well as a new sensibility towards what is built.

In the 2008-2009 II edition, the arquia/next award, consisting of €15,000 has been awarded to the work called Inteligencia Colectiva 2.0 of the ZOOHAUS group. The jury highlighted it as a complete and complex example of NEW FORMATS, especially in its way of working: a group of groups, and in its support: web. A teamwork proposal that develops a networked research and dissemination project, an open and participatory database, based on the analysis and mapping of prototypes and construction details, is highly valued. The realization as a generator of new processes is pointed out, a true transforming format.

2008-2009 II Edition

In the II edition 2008-2009 of the arquia/next biennial there were registered 1939 realizations and 286 architects. It should be noted that a greater participation has been detected than in the previous call, with really significant figures despite the times when the call was made.

The jury consisting of Carlos Quintans as general curator and by the scientific committee composed of Fernando Diaz Pines, Felix Arranz, Francisco Cifuentes, Santiago Cirugeda, Javier Mozas andRicardo Sanchez Lampreave wanted to show in the 128 catalogued works and in the other 24 that have been chosen those facets in which the young architects are developing their work and the different formulas that have been sought, either through competitions, commissions or self-commissioning and new collaboration formulas and social activism that have appeared with greater intensity in recent years.

In the 2008-2009 III Edition, the arquia/next award, consisting of €15,000 has been awarded to the work called 'Comedor Escolar Tipo' by LA PANADERIA (Rubén Alonso, Eva Morales and David Canavate).

The jury highlighted it as a rigorous project in which the conditions of these school premises are analysed and in which a proposal of minimums is offered with a high dose of sensitivity and good sense, offering hope in the face of the new conditions that society is experiencing

2006-2007 I Edition

In the 2006-2007 I edition of the arquia/next biennial were registered 769 realizations and 286 architects. The jury formed by Félix Arranz as general curator, Marta Cervelló, Sara de Giles, Patxi Mangado, Carmen Pinós, Emilio Tuñón and the sociologist José Miguel Iribas chose the 128 catalogued projects and the 28 selected projects whose selection criteria were the following:
The 128 catalogued projects sought to be representative of the projects presented, taking into account the area in which they are located, that is, to reflect the diversity of architectural practice and its ways of proceeding from a geographical point of view. The best and greatest achievements were not highlighted, but rather an attempt was made to show a panorama (which by definition is long) of the architecture being produced by architects with less than 10 years of qualifications, always from the point of view of quality.
The 28 selected were awarded for the quality of their achievements, at the level of project, execution and originality.
In the first 2006-2007 edition, the arquia/next award, endowed with €15,000, was awarded to the work called ECO-BOULEVARD IN VALLECAS' EXTENSION, by authors Ecosistema Urbano (Belinda Tato, José Luis Vallejo and Diego García Setién), the jury highlighted the usefulness, usefulness, convenience and benefit of the project, and whose environmental and sustainability criteria underlie all the determinations of the same, as well as social exchange promotion.
